Craig Foster is an Academy Award and BAFTA winning filmmaker, naturalist and ocean explorer. His films have collectively won over 100 international awards. He is the co-founder of the NPO the Sea Change Project, dedicated to the long term conservation and regeneration of the Great African Seaforest. His film “My Octopus Teacher” has led to making the African Seaforest a global icon. Craig also has consulted for 5 years for the centre for early sapiens behaviour and created an award winning exhibition on their findings.

As an independent public figure and celebrity in Korea, Tyler Rasch has a strong media presence across the board in Korea. He has been a regular on hit TV series and talk shows on multiple Korean networks including tvN, JTBC, and KBS. He has received awards and recognition for my positive contributions to Korea through media. Tyler Rasch raises awareness on the climate crisis and the importance of ecological conservation by giving lectures and keynote speeches, engaging social and mainstream media, and bringing WWF's mission to the public in any way possible.

Ambassador of Denmark to Korea

H.E. Einar Jensen has had a long and distinguished career as a civil servant in Denmark. He began his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an environmental attaché to South Africa before rising to Head of Department of the South East Asia and the Pacific Office. In September 2019, he was appointed ambassador to the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Throughout his career, H.E. Einar H. Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture Division Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO

Professor Manuel Barange is the Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division at the FAO. He holds an Honorary Professorship at the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Exeter (UK). Professor Barange is a global expert on the impacts of Climate Change on marine ecosystems, fisheries and aquaculture, and on the interactions between natural and socio-economic drivers of change. He has over 130 academic publications. In 2010 he was awarded the UNESCO-IOC Roger Revelle Medal for his contribution to ocean science.

The Advent of SDGs And Korea’s Strategic Actions

Professor, Department of Sociology Seoul National University

Seokho Kim is now a professor in the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University (SNU). He has been leading the following projects: establishing a monitoring system to implement the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Korea (2016), preparing the metadata for the UN's SDGs indicators (2020), and preparing the Korea's SDGs Implementation Report 2022 (2022). Also, he undertook the selection and preparation of the 17 target indicators for the Korea's independent sustainable development goals (known as the K-SDGs) in 2020, and he is currently building a national indicator management system for the K-SDGs.

Sung-taek Lim

Mr. Sung Taek Lim studied Law at Seoul National University and passed the 37nd bar examination. Mr. Lim is a managing partner of JIPYONG LLC, director of Korea Energy Foundation, director of ROOT IMPACT and a member of Impact Financing Promotion Committee. In addition, Mr. Lim is deeply committed to pro bono work. His pro bono efforts focus on securing human rights for minority groups such as people with disabilities etc., and activities related to public-interest law, and business and human rights. Il-hwan Cho

Fishery Resources Policy Bureau Officer Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries

Director-General Cho is a fisheries expert, a trade negotiator, and an international lawyer. He has taken a number of major fishery policy initiatives including the strengthening of the Total Allowable Catch and Vessel Monitoring System, introduction of a large scale fishery restructuring program, and the development of environment-friendly fishing gears. He has been a member of the New York State Bar Associations since 2008, and served as the Vice-Chair of the OECD Fisheries Committee since 2019.

Professor Hanho Kim has been a professor at Seoul National University for 26 years. Professor Dept. of Distribution and Logistics at Dong-Eui University

Prof. Cho Sam-hyun studied Shipping Management (Multimodal Transportation Logistics) at Korea Maritime University, had been employed by Hyundai Merchant Marine(HMM) and also worked as the head of the Korean branch of China's Hyun Tong Shipping Group. After obtaining a doctorate, he worked at the Busan Development Institute and the Korea Railroad Research Institute, conducted research on Northeast Asian Logistics, South-North and Eurasian Railways. Prof. Cho is working at the Dept. of Distribution and Logistics at Dong-Eui University. He is also a head of both the Distribution and Logistics Institute at Dong-Eui University, and a New North-South Marine economy research institute.

Mónica works in DNV Maritime Classification, providing approval and technical support to innovative projects intending to use hydrogen as ship fuel. She first gained hands-on experience as a surveyor in Asia and Europe before becoming a gas approval expert in Norway, working with gas carriers, regasification and gas-fuelled ship projects. In 2016 she was part of the working group that developed the Interim Recommendations for Carriage of Liquefied Hydrogen in Bulk at IMO. Since then, she has been working and leading approval, research, and joint industry projects related to the safe use of hydrogen in shipping.

As a Chair Professor in Nuclear Engineering at UNIST, Dr. I l Soon Hang worked at MIT as a research scientist and visiting Associate Professor as well as a professor at Seoul National University. He has been contributing to the development of small modular reactor, nuclear materials and nuclear transmutation engineering, and published about 300 papers and 30 patents. After BS in SNU Nuclear Engineering, MS in KAIST Mechanical Engineering, he received Ph. D. in MIT Nuclear Materials Engineering at M.I.T.

Dr. Lee Sang-Lae earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University. When working at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering(DSME), he was dispatched to DeWind, a German wind power generator manufacturer, a subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding, to develop wind turbine generators such as D8, D9, etc. Since then, he has moved to a Korean Register of Shipping(KR) and has been working on developing, certifying, and evaluating wind turbine-related technologies for 11 years.

He also worked in several marine research institution like Ifremer (France), the Institute for Marine Science and Monash University (Australia), the University of Plymouth (UK). He has a PhD in marine chemistry (The European Institute for Marine Studies ). Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique (PMBA) is a maritime innovation business cluster. Its mission is to develop a competitive maritime economy by stimulating and encouraging collaboration.

Born in 1963 in Austria, Veronika Veits studied at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna and joined the European Commission in 1996. Yoon-soo Hur is currently Senior Researcher Fellow and Head for Planning and Coordination in Busan Development Institute (BDI). His work includes research related to the development of Port & Logistics in Busan, and making the urban planning related to Busan’s Logistics and Port. He also researches Busan’s artic policy for not only getting the opportunity of resource development but also keeping the artic environment. Jong-chul Choi

Executive Vice President HMM

Choi Jong-chul majored in navigation at Korea Maritime University. He worked as a captain at HMM for 10 years, and continued ship safety, ship maintenance, crew education, and environmental work at HMM for 20 years. In addition, HMMOCEAN SERVIC, a subsidiary of HMM, has been serving as CEO and general maritime affairs at HMM for five years. CEO Choi Jong-chul has been collaborating with the government, shipbuilders, etc. to lead Digitalization and Decarbonization in HMM.

William Pang

Managing Director PSA International, China Office

Mr William Pang played an instrumental role as Vice President in the development of the state of art Pasir Panjang Terminal in Singapore (2001) and continued to operate the terminal from infancy until 2011, serving major global shipping lines. In the following 10 years (2011 – 2021), Mr William Pang continued his career in the development of PSA International’s terminals in China. Today he is the Head of PSA’s container terminals in China, located in Dalian, Tianjin, Lianyungang, Fuzhou, Guangzhou and Qinzhou. Jointly handling more than 16.5 MTEUs in 2020.

Tim Silverwood is an award-winning environmentalist committed to reducing human impacts on the natural world. A keen surfer, Tim became alarmed at the risks plastic pollution posed to ocean wildlife, co-founding the not-for-profit organization ‘Take 3 for the Sea’ in 2009. After ten years building Take 3 into a social movement and successful charity, Tim launched Ocean Impact Organisation (OIO) in 2020. OIO is Australia’s first ocean impact ecosystem and startup accelerator helping people to start, grow and invest in businesses that positively impact the ocean.

Chairman Kim Hyun-kyum founded PanStar Group in 1990 and now running eight companies as a chairman including a KOSDAQ listed PanStar Enterprise, a RoRo passenger ship operator PanStar Line Dot Com, and an overseas affiliated company SanStar Line in Japan, and more. He was a committee member of the Busan Port Authority, a representative of the Korea Shipping Association, a vice chairman of the Korea Trade Research Association, and a chairman of the Audience Committee of KBS(Korea Broadcasting System).

Ha-yong Jang

researcher at BDI

Dr. Ha yong Jang is the researcher at BDI(Busan Development Institute), the comprehensive policy research institute under Busan Metropolitan City, studying maritime policies to realize the vision of Busan, the maritime capital of Korea. As the convergence researcher, he earned his B.A.(2000) and M.A.(2002) in Coast Guard Studies, Ph.D. in Maritime industry at Mechatronics from Korea Maritime and Ocean University. He served as the head professor at the Busan branch of Korea Port Training Institute to conduct research into smart port from 2014 to 2019. He also helped Maritime Policy Division at the Busan Metropolitan City Government formulate and implement the maritime policy in Busan. Dr. Jang took his role as a member of the WOF planning committee, Busan Cruise Industry Development Committee and Technical Advisory Committee of Busan Port Construction Office. In particular, he worked in a variety of areas as a member of the Special Investigation Committee on Sewol Ferry Disaster, the ROK Delegation to the 2nd Arctic Circle Assembly, and Eurasia Expedition from Busan of Busan Metropolitan City.
