Seung Kyoon Shin is an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the College of Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island. Prior to joining academia, he worked in IT industry as a software specialist, IS project manager, system integration/database consultant, and managing partner of a consulting firm. His research appears in the leading journals of IS including Communications of the ACM, Information Systems Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Decision Support Systems, Information and Management, and International Journal of Production and Operation Management among others. His recent research areas include strategic database design and data analytics, IT investment strategy, virtual knowledge sharing, technology management, and e-business strategy. Professor Shin holds an MBA with specialization in management information systems, and a Ph.D in Management from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been conducting numerous marine research and science development projects, and has been providing consulting services to marine industries, research communities, and government agencies.

Mr. José Joaquín Hernández-Brito holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry (1986) by the University of La Laguna, and he is professor at the Faculty of Marine Sciences of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria since 1983. He has been a marine science researcher, supervisor for several thesis, and responsible for over thirty national and international projects. He has held several R & D management positions at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, such as Dean of the Faculty of Marine Science, Director of the Research Results Transfer Office (TTO), Director of the Scientific and Technological Park and research Vice-Rector. He has also held the position of Director of the Canary Institute of Marine Science. Since 2009, at the ICTS (Science and Technological Singular Infrastructure) PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands), he has first been the Manager, and he is currently the Science, Technology, and Innovation Manager where he is in charge of developing infrastructures, services and projects. His main motivation is to bring out new knowledge, skills, marine and maritime resources, linking administration, training and business. Born in 1961 in La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain.

Hwa Lyong Lee is currently Key Account Manager of DNVGL Korea, where he is working mainly for business development and marketing activities on newbuilding projects. He has been working for DNVGL both in Norway and Korea in relation to rule development, design approval and project development/marketing works. Before joining in DNV on 1998, he had been working as chief hull structural engineer for DSME in Korea more than 16 years. In DSME, he worked on hull initial design at pre-contract phase to basic design for hull key plans after contract. His long working experience in the recognized ship yard brought a lot solution oriented input in the class rule development process and enabled him to build-up a broaden network not only with shipbuilders but owners. He was involved in many recognized/challenging projects both in the ship yard and DNV for design, approval and joint development projects. He had also been working as project director/containership since 2011 and took a position of head of pre-contract section until 2014. He graduated the department of Naval Architecture in Seoul National University on 1981.

Ik Kyo Chung has been a professor within the Department of Oceanography, Pusan National University (PNU), since 1988. Currently he is a director of the Marine Research Institute of PNU and the President of Korean Chapter - World Aquaculture Society. His specialty areas are seaweed ecophysiology and mariculture. He directed the project, ‘Greenhouse gas emissions reduction using seaweeds’ from the Korean Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries (2006-2011). Since joining the Korean Society of Phycology (KSP) in 1987, Dr. Chung has served as the Editor-in-Chief of Algae, and was an Executive Council member for KSP from 1999 to 2005. Other professional services include being a member of the Council for the Korean Society of Oceanography, Executive Committee for the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science, and Executive Board for the Korea Institute of Planning and Evaluation for Technology in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. He earned his B.S. (1976) and M.S. degrees (1978) in Botany from Seoul National University, plus a second M.S. degree (1985) in Marine Environmental Science and a Ph. Woo-Jai Lee is CEO of a life science based fish farming company, BluGen Korea. He was employed as CSO by a Norwegian company, GenoMar AS for 15 years before he established BluGen Korea in 2013. He received Ph.D. in 1994 from University of New Hampshire in the field of fish genomics and quantitative genetics. After his Ph.D. degree, he further expanded his career as a Postdoc fellow in fish genomics and oceanography in University of New Hampshire. From his Postdoc, he mainly worked on modern life sciences supporting aquaculture business such as mapping commercially important genes on the genomes and supporting breeding programs for major farming fish species. Based on the knowledge and experiences from his previous work, he is now running the company with ambitions for building a new aquaculture industry especially for driving changes from small and family oriented business to industrialized one. He believes that the change of the paradigm in aquaculture in Korea needs integration of value chains and significant investment along with public supports by changing necessary laws and regulations. Lee holds his BS in biology from Chungbuk Nat’l University (Korea), a MA degree in population genetics and animal systematics from the City University of New York (USA), and a Ph.D. in fish genetics from the University of New Hampshire (USA). From 1996 to 2004 Heldbo was Senior Counsellor at the department of Environment and Resources at the Nordic Council of Ministers, with responsibilities for Fisheries and Aquaculture. For 5 years Heldbo was CEO for Matcon, Consulting Engineers and Planners Ltd., constructing seafood processing plants and equipment. Prior to this he was a scientist and senior scientist at the Fisheries Laboratory of the Ministry of Fisheries in Denmark. Jesper Heldbo, born 1953, holds an industrial Ph.D. from the Danish Academy for the Technical Science and the Danish Technical University. Heldbo graduated from University of Copenhagen as M.Sc. in Aquaculture and Environmental Biology. Tony Michell is currently Managing Director of Korea Associates Business Consultancy, a visiting Professor at KDI School of Public Policy and Management and Research Director of the One Million Jobs Initiative. As a Cambridge Ph.D holder he has taught economic development and change management in the UK, US and Korea. First coming to Korea in 1978 he worked in the Economic Planning Bureau of the Economic Planning Board and subsequently worked as a consultant to the World Bank, ILO and UNDP. In the mid 1980s he was project economist on some of Korea’s first overseas aid projects. Since 1989 he has managed a business consultancy practice concentrating on Northeast Asia, with time off to manage an electric car company’s entry to Europe in 2010. In 1998 and again in 2015-16 he was research director of the One Million Jobs Initiative as a collective attempt to create new businesses and jobs in Korea. The current initiative includes cooperation with Business Creation Inc, and a special project concentration on maritime industries and coastal regions. Recent publications include The One Million Jobs Initiative 2016 and Samsung Electronics and the Struggle for Leadership in the Electronics Industry 2010.

Hans Rijntalder is an experienced project manager on the field of climate, energy and environment. He has been involved in many Dutch projects related to consent and compliance including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA's), permits, environmental, chemicals and safety management systems. Since 2004 he is intensively involved in projects related to sustainable energy (for instance: wind energy) for companies and authorities. Hans Rijntalder graduated on Public Administration at the University of Rotterdam in 1990. After his graduation he completed a postgraduate study resulting in Master of Environmental Management. He started his career at the Crisis Research Team in Leiden (now The Hague). After this, he joined IWACO (International Water Consultants), where he worked in 's-Hertogenbosch as a consultant on Environmental Management. In 1996 he started an office in Enschede, the eastern part of the Netherlands, for IWACO. And in 2000 he became managing director of IWACO North in Groningen. After a merger with Royal Haskoning, he started in 2001 as a Business Group Director Environmental and Safety Management in Nijmegen. In 2007, he founded Pondera Consult. Hans Rijntalder, is co-founder/CEO of Wind Minds International and Wind Mind Korea. Wind Minds International was founded in 2014.

China program manager Kevin Jianjun Tu is the China program manager at Paris-based International Energy Agency, where he leads the Agency's effort to engage China in international energy governance, and a non-resident research fellow at the Canadian Industrial Energy End-use Data and Analysis Centre. Prior to joining the IEA, Mr. Tu was director of China Energy & Climate Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC. Between 2004 and 2011, He served as senior energy and environmental consultant for M.K. Jaccard and Associates, a premier energy and climate consulting firm in Vancouver. Before moving from China to Canada, Tu was the director of marine operations at Shenzhen Sino-Benny, China’s largest LPG importer and distributor. Previous to that, he worked first as technical supervisor and then project manager for Sinopec, a Chinese national petroleum company. Tu is an experienced policy adviser and project manager who specializes in operations strategy and policy analysis of coal, oil, gas, and power sectors as well as in sustainable resource and environmental management. He has extensive connections with China’s energy industry, government, academia, and environmental NGOs.

Clara GILLISPIE is Senior Director of Trade, Economic, and Energy Affairs at NBR. In this capacity, Ms. Gillispie leads research, publications, and activities for a range of initiatives, including the Energy Security Program, the Pacific Energy Summit, and the organization’s programming on innovation and intellectual property rights. Prior to joining NBR in 2011, Ms. Gillispie served as a consultant for Detica Federal Inc. (now a part of BAE Systems), where she conducted program assessments and policy reviews for U.S. government clients. She has also worked both at the U.S. House Committee on Science, Technology, and Space and the American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China. Ms. Gillispie’s academic and research interests focus on energy security questions, as well as technology and security in East Asia, including Sino-U.S. technology transfer policies and the behavior of Chinese netizens. Her research and analysis has been featured in both U.S. and international media outlets, including NPR’s Marketplace. Ms. Gillispie graduated from the London School of Economics and Peking University with a dual MSc in International Affairs and received her BS from Georgetown University.

Yang Yi is currently Secretary General of China Institute of International Studies(CIIS), a leading think tank afflicted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. He joined CIIS in 1997 after graduation from the History Department, Peking University. He served as Vice Consul for political and press affairs in Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles from 2000 to 2004. Since then he has been Deputy Director and later Director of the CSCAP China Secretariat, and Director of the Office of International Exchanges, CIIS, and Secretary General of the CIIS successively. His recent work includes issues related to China-ASEAN relations, maritime security, energy security and other non-traditional security issues in the Asia Pacific. Yang holds a Master Degree in History from the Peking University. Born in 1968 in Beijing.

Mr. Choi is the Head of Global Energy Cooperation Center, within the Climate Change, Energy and Enviromental Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been with the Ministry Foreign Affairs since 2011. The Global Energy Cooperation Center is responsible for serving as a channel between Korean diplomatic missions overseas and Korean energy companies and cooperating with international organizations including IRENA and IEA to promote energy cooperation among countries. Prior to his tenure with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Choi held positions at Energy & Mineral Resources Development Association of Korea(EMRD), Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources(KIGAM) and Korea Energy Economics Institute(KEEI). Especially, he worked for more than five years at national research energy institutes (KIGAM and KEEI). His undergraduate degree is in Information Science and Technology from Penn State University ; he has a Master’s Degree in Economics.
