He was a researcher in the biological clock research center in Texas A&M University from 2000 to 2005, Currently he is working for to search and design new R&D subjects in KIMST(Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion), right after his duty on the chief of marine biotechnology policy supporting center, the director general of R&D policy development head office, a head of start-up and industrialization supporting unit in KIMST since 2006. He also serve as a vice-president of korean society of environmental biology, a vice-president the korean society of ocean policy, a review-committee member of innovative challenge R&D projects of ministry of science and ICT, and an editorial board member of the Ocean, a journal.

Professor Shin, Kyung-Hoon (1965) studied Earth and Marine Science at Hanyang University (1990), and studied Atmospheric and Hydrospheric Science at Nagoya University (1996), and Earth and Environmental Science at Hokkaido University (1999). He has been employed by Japanese Marine Science and Technology, and worked at Earth Frontier Research System, and investigated ecological and environmental change in the Arctic under changing climate at the International Arctic Research Center, University of Alaska.. He joined to Hanyang University since 2003, and has been carried out the education and research with the focus of marine ecological and environmental diagnosis. Now he is a full professor, and director at the Institute of Ocean and Atmospheric Science, Hanyang University. He actively published 202 papers to international journal (SCI/E), and published 50papers to domestic journal through academic performance. He got the HYU Academic Award, Best Researcher Award, Outstanding Lecturer Award, Yeocheon Ecology Award and Best Paper Award of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies

Kyuhan Kim

Prof. Kyuhan Kim (1962) received his Ph.D. in coastal and ocean engineering from O saka University, Japan, in 1993. He also worked at the Applied Hydraulic Research Institute of Nippon Tetrapod in Japan and was associated with Catholic Kwandong University for 30 years. In 2005, with government support, the Smart Waterfront and Coastal Research Center was established, conducting various experimental and theoretical research to this day. Prof. Kim currently serves as the President of Catholic Kwandong University Holdings and is responsible for research industry academia cooperation. He is also the President of The Korea Society of Coastal and Ocean Engineers and the President of the Korean Association of Ocean Science and Technology Societies. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of the Policy Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and is an advisory and deliberative committee member for several government a gencies.

Dr. Eon-Kyung Lee (born 1970) holds a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management from Korea University. She has a diverse background, having worked as a researcher at the Seoul Institute and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology(KIST), as well as serving as a consultant at Entrue Consulting of LG CNS. Currently, she is employed as the Deputy Head of the Logistics and Maritime Industry Research Division at the Korea Maritime Institute. Over the course of approximately 20 years, Dr. Lee has conducted research in various areas, including smart port logistics, food cold chain management, supply chain innovation, and the application of emerging technologies. Dr. Lee is actively engaged in several committees, including the Port Policy Review Committee of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, as well as the Logistics Policy Committee of the City of Busan and the Province of Gyeongsangnam-do. Additionally, she has been planning and annually publishing a series of logistics trend books aimed at general readers with an interest in logistics.

John Everett Nyberg

John Nyberg’s previous positions at NOAA include chief and deputy chief of the Marine Chart Division between 2010 and 2020 where he helped direct Coast Survey’s chart modernization to digital products, changing the operational focus from paper-based chart compilation to electronic navigational charts. Prior to his work in the Marine Chart Division, Nyberg spent 12 years in Coast Survey’s Navigation Services Division moving from Coast Pilot cartographer to deputy division chief where he helped manage the procurement of the research vessel Bay Hydrographer II and initiated the modernization of the United States Coast Pilot’s production system. Nyberg currently serves as co-chair of the United Nations GGIM Working Group on Marine Geospatial Information, chair of the IHO WEND-WG, and vice-chair of the IHO IRCC. John has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, with a major in geography, a master’s in international management from the University of Maryland, and is currently working on a PhD in geographic science at George Mason University.

Professor KITACK LEE, born in 1965, pursued his undergraduate studies in oceanography at the University of Miami in 1996. He currently holds the position of a professor within the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Pohang Institute of Technology and is additionally the inaugural president of the Korea Maritime Academy. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Professor Lee was honored as a Distinguished Member of the American Geophysical Union in 2019, a prestigious distinction awarded to the top 0.1% of AGU members annually, marking him as the first Korean scientist to achieve this recognition.

His work includes research related to the development of Port & Logistics in Busan, and making the urban planning related to Busan’s Logistics and Port. He also supports the local government for planning the Ocean Industry development for growing the economy of Busan. He also researches Busan’s artic policy for not only getting the opportunity of resource development but also keeping the artic environment. He has published a large number of papers, articles, books and monographs on Logistic strategy, Busan port, Ocean industry. Professor Jung Hyunmin(1961) studied sociology at Seoul National Uni.(1985, BA), development administration at Carleton Uni.(Canada, Ottawa)(1995, MA), and urban planning at MSU(2018, VRF). Since he started his government official position at the central government by passing the Higher Civil Servant Exam in 1986, he had served as the various high level official at Busan city(Planning, Public Finance, Future Development Strategy, Economy and Industry, and Vice Mayor) as well as at central government(Local Administration, Local Decentralization, Regional Innovation). After he retired, he taught at Ningbo Uni., Zhejiang Province, China, in 2019. In 2020, returning to Korea, he has been teaching at Pukyong National Uni. He is much interested in researching regional innovation policy, local decentralization , regional endogenous development strategy, design strategy for rationalizing local assets, and new leadership model for regional innovation.

Mr. Ye Rongzhong was born in November 1964 in Taizhou, China. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hangzhou University, and a Master of Arts degree in Diplomacy from the University of Westminstar. Mark Teng is an Executive Director in the Shipping and Offshore team of Credit Agricole Corporate Investment Bank, where he has worked since 2000. He is primarily responsible for covering the shipfinancing activities of Asian shipping companies, with an emphasis on the Korean market. In his 20-plus years in the Korean market Mark has structured and originated all kinds of Korean ship finance deals including but not limited to SIC scheme, ECA covered loans, Korean shipping funds, and ECA-covered bonds. Gerbrand is a managing director and Head of Transport & Logistics APAC for ING Bank. In his role he is responsible for the bank’s regional sector coverage of the Automotive, Aviation, Containers & Logistics, Land Transport and Shipping businesses. Prior to becoming regional head in 2020, Gerbrand was a director in the same team, looking after ING Bank’s logistics banking business in Asia Pacific and the origination of ship and container finance transactions in among others Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia. Gerbrand joined the Singapore team in 2009. Prior to his transfer to Singapore in 2009, Gerbrand was part of ING Bank’s Asset Based Finance teams in London (2002) and Rotterdam (2000). While there he worked on a wide range of structured ship finance transactions, with focus on the Americas, Russia and the LNG market. He started his career with ING Bank Netherlands as management trainee in 1999 and undertook in his first year various placements within the bank. Mr. Jeon (born in 1970) received his bachelor's degree in maritime transportation science from Korea Maritime and Ocean University (1993), business administration from Kyung Hee University (1998), master's degree in business administration (financial management) from Kyung Hee University Graduate School (2000), and doctorate in business administration majored in financial management (2005). He worked for over 20 years at Shinhan Investment & Securities, Hana Investment & Securities, Hanwha Life Insurance, Hyundai Marine Fire Insurance, and Korea Ocean Business Corporation, and mainly performed tasks such as risk management, financial management, and business strategy. The Korea Ocean Business Corporation, where He currently work, is carrying out various policy projects to strengthen competitiveness, such as providing financial support such as investment and guarantees to Korean national shipping companies, and providing shipping information and consulting. General manager Ki-Hwan Jeon is currently the head of the management support team at HMM, of which Korea Ocean Business Corporation is the majority shareholder, and He is a CFA and FRM charter holder.

Dr. In-Cheol Lim majored in nuclear engineering and earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Seoul National University in 1984 and 1986 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in 1996 from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He has been working at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute since 1984, and had been responsible for various tasks in the field of research reactors, and was in charge of research on radiation application. Currently, as the Executive Vice President of KAERI, he is oversighting the R&D activities of KAERI. Dr. In-Cheol Lim served as the president of the Korea Society of Radiation Industry and is currently a board member of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies. He is also a member of the Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy (SAGNE), an organization advising the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He contributed to the six IAEA guidance documents on research reactors and nuclear research infrastructure.

Dr. Tae-Ho Lee is a senior vice president of Advanced Nuclear Reactor Lab. at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) where he is taking the overall responsibility for developing SMR technology from 2023. He earned his B.S.(1989), M.S.(1991) and Ph.D.(2000) from Seoul National University and has more than 25 years of experience as a technology developer in the fields of design for nuclear reactor system. Early in the 1990s and 2000s, he was involved in the system design of commercial pressurized water reactor and Korean SMR SMART. From mid 2000s to late 2010s, he has participated in several projects related with reactor system design and validation of sodium-cooled fast reactor as project manager or director. Patrick Ryan is Senior Vice President, Global Engineering and Technology and Chief Technology Officer for ABS. He is responsible for ABS’ global engineering, technology research and development, digital class, and engineering software organizations, Global Simulation Center and the Global Ship Systems Center. Ryan is known for his vision and energy in digitizing maritime engineering and is leading ABS and our global clients through their digitalization of Class in engineering, plan review, and beyond. His team has the unique responsibility to help shipowners, designers, and builders bring their plans into the digital world, and to lead the development of new technologies that will support sustainability objectives and the increasingly pivotal role of engineering and technology in the global energy transition and the rapid digitization of the maritime industry – all while never deviating from the ABS mission of making the world a safer place and minimizing the impact on the environment. Throughout his career as a naval architect, Ryan has always been focused on cutting edge technologies around ships and ship building. For 21 years prior to joining ABS, he was in various ship design, program management, and engineering leadership roles at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was responsible for digital engineering processes and tools and was at the forefront of the company’s digital transformation for several major shipbuilding programs. Ryan has authored seven U.S. and international patents on industrial augmented reality technology and is the recipient of the prestigious Doug Ensor Award for his leadership and work in Naval hydrodynamics. In 2017, Smart Industry Magazine named him one of the “Top 50” Digital Innovators in Smart Manufacturing. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, and Masters in Ocean Engineering. He has been employed by Hyundai Heavy Industries before his involvement within Korean Register. Within Korean Register, he has been active in the maritime industry for over 18 years now and is focused on and responsible for the risk assessment on various ship and offshore systems. Korean Register is striving to develop safety verification and certification technologies for zero- or low-carbon eco-friendly ships, and recently, it is concentrating on safety regulations and assessment in relation to the marine use of SMR such as nuclear propulsion ships.

Part Leader Heesung Lee (1973) majored in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from undergraduate to Ph.D. at Pusan National University(2005) and also served as a Visiting Scholar at Texas A&M University(2004) in the United States for one year. He joined Samsung Heavy Industries in 2005 and has been mainly in charge of Risk Study and Safety Engineering for new technology products until now. Recently, he has been researching and designing concepts for marine products based on SMR. In particular, it is conducting research on engineering for radiation shielding, high temperature corrosion, and marine structure behavior as well as verification technology for marine reactor performance. Heesung Lee is the part leader of the Safety and Environment Technology Part of Samsung Heavy Industries' Eco-friendly Research Center and is a member of the Society of Naval Architects of Korean. Recent activities related to SMR include the development of Korean-style molten salt reactors, technical cooperation with the KAERI(Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) and the KRISO(Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering), and the development of marine nuclear power plants with Seaborg.

Dr. Park Sangmin, Research Director at HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd., completed his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Chungnam National University in 2001, followed by a Master's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Seoul National University in 2003. In 2019, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Process Engineering from Pohang University of Science and Technology. Joining the Hyundai Heavy Industries Group in 2003, Dr. Park engaged in the development of various gas vessels such as LNG carriers, FSRUs, and FLNGs, as well as the design of offshore plants. From 2011 to 2013, he conducted research on subsea offshore plant technology in collaboration with European research institutions at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Currently, he is driving new initiatives in the field of ammonia/methanol vessels, CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage), offshore green hydrogen, and nuclear-powered propulsion ships. He was honored with the Top 10 Mechanical Technology Award in 2017 and was selected as an Engineer of the Korea Award in 2019, recognizing his outstanding contributions.

Dr. Hanshin Seol (1976) is Director of Naval Ship Engineering Research Center at Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO). Prof. Kim Kisoo is currently a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at Dong-A University, where he also serves as the Director of the Seokdang Museum. His serves as a member of the Lighthouse Cultural Heritage Committee under the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Chairman of the Modern and Contemporary Architecture Subcommittee at the Cultural Heritage Administration, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Modern and Contemporary Restoration Technology, and as the President of the international organization DOCOMOMO, Korea (Korean Modern Architecture Preservation Society). Kim Gyeong-su (b. 1965) has been working at the Busan Development Institute (1995) since his master's degree in urban planning at Pusan National University (1993) and completed his Ph.D. in urban planning at Pusan National University (2002). The research institute is developing major urban development plans for Busan, such as the establishment of a plan to host the 2030 Busan World Expo and the establishment of a plan for the creation of an air city at Gadeokdo New Airport. Biography Dr. Dong Sung Kim received a Master’s degree in zoology (1992), and obtained a Ph.D. degree in biological science (1996) both from Tokyo University. Dr. Kim returned to his home country as a prospective young scientist under the National Brain Pool Program. Since his return to Korea, Dr. Kim has dedicated to broaden and firm domestic research foundation as a physiological ecology specialist in field of meiobenthos. Dr. Kim is the pioneer Korean scientist who was onboard the manned underwater vehicle ‘Shinkai 6500’ to explore the hydrothermal vent named “Kairei” first discovered in the Indian Ocean. Successively, he had joined a tri-lateral (Korea, Japan, USA) international expedition team to explore the world’s deepest abyss called as “Mariana Trench” (11,000km/Kaiko). Throughout these experiences, he led an exploratory voyage in 2018 to the High Sea of the Indian Ocean to discover the hydrothermal vent ecosystem named “Onuri”-the first hydrothermal vent ecosystem discovered by Korea but the 4th by the international competitors—resulting in the successful collection of various samples which obtained novel creatures and natural products and writing a number of research outcome papers. In 2012, Dr. Kim was a principal investigator again leading an expedition team to the Indian Ocean to discover a new hydrothermal vent ecosystem named “Onbada” as the second discovery by Korea and discovered the 3rd one named “Onnarae”, contributing to the advancement of research capabilities in area of deep sea extremophile ecosystem. Furthermore, Dr. Kim has led a scientific team for many years to develop research plans about the East Sea and Dokdo micro-and meio-fauna ecosystem. He also has contributed to the advancement of national marine science by actively participating in a number of meetings to develop national and public marine policies and solutions for domestic coastal problems. Presently, Dr. Kim is Director for External Affairs of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST), a Member of the Review Committee on Marine Area Use Effect organized by the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries, a Special Advisor for the National Ocean Science Museum, Secretary-General of Green Growth Ocean Forum, a Board Member and an Auditor of the Society of Marine Environment and Biology, Chair of the Committee on Marine Science of the Society of Marine Environment and Biology, a Board Member and Vice-President of Incorporated Association of Korea Marine Policy, a Registered Board Member of Incorporated Association of Gyeonggi Bay Forum, and an Editor of the Journal of the Korean Society of Oceanography. Dr. Hyi-Seung Lee earned his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry in 1988 and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1998 from Seoul National University in Korea. Before that, he spent three years as a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy. Dr. Hee Cheol YANG is currently a Principal Research Scientist and Director General for the Ocean Law and Policy Institute, KIOST. He received his Ph.D in international law of the sea and Chinese law from the National Taiwan University in 2006. His specialties are maritime boundary delimitation and marine disputes, MSP and MSR. He is also actively leading domestic marine governance including the enactment and revision of laws relating to marine issues in Korea. He has been serving as an expert government consultant on the Korean Committee on Marine Geographical Names as well as on various issues of marine affairs including issues relating to the Law of the Sea, maritime delimitation and other domestic and international marine-related issues of the Korea of Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea Coast Guard, and Korea Navy. Dr. Hanseong Lee (DOB 1965) obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Seoul National University. Later, he obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002. After completing his doctorial studies, he continued his work as a postdoctoral fellow and a research associate at the same university. From 2007, he started his professional career at Floatec LLC, an engineering company located in Houston, Texas, where he was involved in various offshore project for offshore floating structure design, analysis, installation and commissioning. In 2013, he took on the role of vice president in charge of Engineering Management (EM) at Samsung Heavy Industries, overseeing engineering projects related to jack-up rigs, semi-submersibles, and petroleum drillships. From 2019, Dr. Lee had worked as a technical consultant at SimulationTech, providing technical advice on various eco-friendly facilities, including scrubbers for desulfurization systems. Since 2021, he has held the position of director of the Shipbuilding and Maritime Research Division at a Research Institute of Medium and Small Shipbuilding. In this role he oversees R&D in various fields, such as eco-friendly vessels, materials, maritime leisure and safety, and smart ships.

Dr. Su-Han Woo is a Professor in the Department of International Logistics at Chung-Ang University in South Korea. He graduated with BA in Economics from Seoul National University in South Korea in 1998 and was awarded a PhD in Cardiff Business School in 2011. Prior to the current position, he worked in the Korean Ministries which deal with transport and logistics policies for more than 10 years and was involved in a wide range of maritime transport related policies. His research interests centre on effective management of international logistics and transportation focusing on shipping and port management. His research has recently been extended to supply chain management including topics such as integration of transport and logistic into supply chain networks. He has published a number of papers in the leading academic journals such as Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Transportation Research Part A, Transport Reviews, Maritime Economics & Logistics and Maritime Policy & Management. Sam Cho was elected to the Port Commission in 2019 and became Commission President in 2023. Cho is the son of immigrants who immigrated from South Korea to the United States through the Port of Seattle in the 80’s. Today, he is the youngest and first person of color to become Commission President since the founding of the Port in 1911. Driven to help shape the economy of the future, Commissioner Cho’s career has spanned from government and emerging start-ups to established companies in the tech and sustainability space. Commissioner Cho currently serves as Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell. Immediately before his election to the Port, Commissioner Cho was the founder and CEO of Seven Seas Export, an international trading company that exported over 2.5 million pounds of eggs to various countries throughout the Asia-Pacific. Earlier in his career, Commissioner Cho held positions as an analyst at the US Department of State, as a Legislative Assistant to both a Washington State Senator and a member of the United States Congress, and served as a political appointee under President Barack Obama. He led the UK govt. funded Shipping in Changing Climates project, led the 3rd IMO GHG Study, is an author in the 4th IMO GHG Study. He is lead author of ISO 19030, co-chair of World Bank's CPLC Maritime Thread, and has been involved in numerous projects across the academic, industry and policy domains. Prof. Hye-Seong Lee (born in 1973) received bachelor's and master's degrees in Food and Nutrition from Ewha Womans University and Graduate School (1998), and a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the University of California, Davis (2003). Afterward, she worked as a researcher at Unilever Netherlands Global Research Institute. Since 2008, she has been a professor at the Department of Food Science and Biotechnology at Ewha Womans University. The field of education and research is sensory and consumer science, and she operates an affective engineering laboratory that studies food design, sensory marketing, and perception/cognition of sensory characteristics that meet consumer needs. She is also the principal investigator of a basic research laboratory for 'personalized bio-food development' that is sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea. She also serves as associate editor-in-chief of Food Quality and Preference, an international journal representing convergence food science. Dr. Bum-Keun Kim obtained his Bachelor's degree (1997) and Master's degree (1999) in Agricultural Chemistry from Korea University. He then received his Ph.D. degree (2004) from the Department of Food Engineering at the same university. After obtaining his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Korea Food Research Institute from 2005 to 2007. Since 2007, he has been working as a principal research scientist in the Processing and Engineering Research Division at the Korea Food Research Institute. He also served as the head of the division for about 4 years (2019.7-2023.4). Professor Lee, is the Chair of the FoodTech Dept. at Seoul National University, is a professor at Seoul National University in the Food Science and Biotechnology Dept. He is a distinguished member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, and the President of the Korea FoodTech Council. Professor Lee, Ki Won is an authority in the commercialization of precision food medicine technology, such as AI based customized dietary design platform, customized phytochemical, and customized biopharm. He received the Seoul National University Industry-University Cooperation Award and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Science and Technology Grand Award. He is the founder of BOBSNU, a subsidiary of Seoul National University Holdings, and is serving as the CTO. CEO Kim Yang-hee (born in 1969) majored in business administration at Kwandong University (1994) and served as an executive in the food division for 19 consecutive years. She later founded a private company (2016) to develop alternative meat technology that contributes to reducing methane gas (CH4), a major culprit of global warming. After four years and 40,000 experiments, she succeeded in extracting various meat flavors. The technology she developed is a technology that extracts flavor substances that can realize the taste and aroma of meat from seaweeds such as seaweed and kelp. This technology is the world's first seaweed extraction molecular technology that is different from existing meat substitute technology. Since then, HN Novatech has continued to invest and export through core technologies that have secured ESG and safety through conversion to a corporation (2020). HN Novate is the only company in the field of alternative meat materials in Korea that exports overseas. CEO Kim Yang-hee has won various awards, including the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award (2019) and the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (2022). And since HN Novatech has excellent material technology in the field of alternative meat, other alternative meat companies can become customers rather than competitors. Through this, she is trying to contribute to the spread of alternative meat technology.

Professor Jeonghwan Park specialized in aquaculture at the Department of Aquaculture, Pukyong National University (1998) and obtained his master's and doctoral degrees in aquaculture engineering from the same university (1998 to 2005). He served as a research associate at the Department of Biology, North Carolina State University in the United States (2008 to 2012), and later held a professorship at the University of Arkansas (2012 to 2016). Currently, he is a professor in the Division of Fisheries Life Sciences, majoring in Aquaculture and Applied Life Sciences, at Pukyong National University, and also holds the position of director at the Fisheries Science and Technology Center. Professor Park has actively engaged in international endeavors, acting as an advisor to the Korean delegation at the UN Ocean Conference (2017) and chairing the 16th Sub-Committee on Fish Trade of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) held in Busan (2017). He previously served as the chief professor in the Division of Aquaculture Technology at the FAO World Fisheries University (2017-2019), and currently, he is a deputy director of the KOICA master's program at Pukyong National University (2020-present). During his tenure at universities in the United States, Professor Park held various positions, including Regional Representative Researcher in the Aquaculture Commission of the Southern Regional Aquaculture Center, committee member at the National Membrane Technology Center of the National Science Foundation, advisor to the Arkansas Catfish Farmers Association, and member of the Review Committee of the World Aquaculture Society. In South Korea, he has served as a member of the Special Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, and Rural Policy in the Presidential Office, a non-executive director of the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Agency, a member of the Dong-Won Academic Foundation at Pukyong National University, a member of the National Marine and Fisheries Science Policy Committee of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and a member of the Technical Committee on ICT-based Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology in the Ministry of Science and ICT. For over 25 years, Professor Park has made significant contributions to the research and development of fisheries and aquaculture technology, education and training, human resource development, policy guidance, and development both domestically and internationally.

CEO Yeo Ul Jeong (born in 1991) majored in business administration at Korea University. After recognizing the market potential of convenience seafood during her visit to Japan in (2016), she established her company, WELLFISH, in 2020. WELLFISH has been dedicated to creating seafood products using local ingredients in Korea. Over the past 3 years, she has developed 9 seafood products, some of which have been exported to the U.S. and Canada. With these achievements, WELLFISH received numerous awards including the ‘Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award (2020)’ and ‘National 1000 Innovative Companies(2021)’. Now, she is taking on a new challenge to promote the growth of blue foods by providing customers with more easily understandable and accessible information about seafood. To achieve this goal, WELLFISH is working on developing a customized seafood recommendation service using ingredient analysis, with R&D support from the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

Previously, Professor Shim served as Senior Vice President of Hyundai Asan Corporation for many years. Hyundai Asan is the founder of the Mt. Kumgang project and the major investor in North Korea's tourism development. Dr. Shim has been very active in the company and has been in charge of many multi-year projects, such as the operation of 4 cruise ships from South Korea to N. Korea, the Mt. Kumgang Resort, the Kaesong Tour Project, as well as the Mt. Baekdu Development Project. In addition, his dedication to the various tourism development projects in N. Korea led him to live in the Mt. Kumgang Tourist Region for four years and work with the N. Korean tourism authorities. While working on these projects, he visited N. Korea more than 120 times to discuss and positively implement tourism planning and development with N. Korean government officials. In view of his many achievements during the 10 years, he is one of the internationally recognized figures who have made significant contributions to the development of cruise ship tourism between North and South Korea, such as cruise ship ports, hot spas, accommodations, tourist facilities and so on. Dr. Shim left the Hyundai Group in 2012 after 26 years of service to become a professor at Kyonggi University, where he researched and taught unification tourism and tourism policy theory. He retired last year due to the mandatory retirement age for professors and continues to work actively in his respective fields.

Professor YHANG, WII-JOO, Ph.D(born 1962) majored in tourism and leisure at TEXAS A&M University (1994), master's (1987) in the Department of Ecology and Landscape Architecture in the graduate school, and Landscape Architecture(1985) in the undergraduate school at Seoul National University. After returning to Korea From the United States in 1994, he participated and organized tourism policies, tourism development plans, and strategies in Busan Metroplitan city as a research fellow at the Busan Development Institute's(BDI) urban planning office. He started as a professor of the Department of Tourism Management at Silla University in March 1997, and has been serving as a professor of Department of Tourism Management at Pukyong National University from March 2006 to the present. In June 2007, the Global Marine and Coastal Tourism Research Institute was established and as the director, various projects are being carried out to revitalize coastal and marine tourism at home and abroad. Professor YHANG is a policy advisor to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and serves as an advisor or evaluation committee member in the central government, Busan, other metropolitan governments, local municipalities, and national research institutes. Valeryi has got more than 18 years of experience in port industry, including positions as the head of strategy planning department of Vladivostok Commercial Port and CEO of property and facility management company of the Port. Since 2015 Valeryi is the CEO of Vladivostok sea terminal LLC, the main cruise port of Pacific Russia. Under his guidance Vladivostok has become full-style member of cruise industry, recognizable in the Asian and International cruise market, has increased its annual cruise traffic from 5 000 (in 2015) to more than 30 000 (in 2019) cruise passengers and has accommodated biggest cruise ships sailing in Asia. During this time, strategy of Vladivostok’s development as cruise destination was suggested and is being implemented, direct connections with all cruise lines active in Asia were established, new shorex programs and services for passengers were initiated. By Valeryi’s initiative Vladivostok also became a member of cruise industry associations and is regularly presented at all main cruise industry events in Asia Pacific and in industry media. Since 2018 Valery and his team have been actively working to promote Pacific Russia cruise destinations (Vladivostok, Sakhalin& Kuril islands, Kamchatka) as a base to launch new type of cruise itineraries for Asian and international cruise markets, motivating all parties involved to speed-up development of infrastructure, shaping up-to-date shorex programs and negotiating with cruise operators. In 2020-2022 he together with industry partners made a lot of efforts to create conditions needed to restore international cruise and ferry passengers operations in Russia considering consequences of the pandemic. In 2021 Valeryi was included as a member of working group for the development of cruise tourism under the Federal Agency of Tourism of Russian Federation and participated in development of the Concept for the development of cruise tourism in Russian Federation and of the Action plan of its implementation. Since the end of the pandemic Valeryi and his team have resumed active marketing efforts to attract in Vladivostok new market players both from cruise and ro-pax ferry sectors. In 2018 Valeryi became one of the winners of ‘Seatrade Cruise News 20 under 40’ contest among young professionals from the global cruise industry who are under the age of 40 and who have shown either great initiative, an exceptionally hardworking culture and demonstrated strong leadership. In 1999 – 2005 he studied Management at Far Eastern State Technical University (now Far Eastern Federal University). He received a Master’s degree in the same field.

She began her career as a GSA for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line in 2007, when she was in charge of overall operations. She has been in charge of public relations and marketing at Carnival Corporation Korea since the Korean official branch of Princess Cruises and Cunard Line was established in 2013. As of 2022, she is also in charge of marketing in Asia, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Additionally, whenever she had the opportunity, she gave special lectures on cruise tourism at Sejong University, Konkuk University, Daekyeung University, Sejong Cyber University, and Lifelong Education Center since she was passionate about developing the next generation of cruise industry talents. President Wan-Hyun Choi, born in 1964, completed his undergraduate studies in Fisheries Management at Busan National Fisheries University in 1991. Subsequently, he earned a Master's degree in Fisheries and Ocean Science in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Marine Fisheries Management in 2020 at Pukyong National University. Over the past 27 years, he has been in charge of planning and implementing fisheries policies for the development of aquaculture and fisheries resources management through his careers, as director of Aquaculture Industry Division, Fisheries Development Division, Fisheries Policy Division, Director General of International Distant Water Policy Bureau, Fisheries Resources Policy Bureau, Fisheries Policy Bureau, and Deputy Minister for Fisheries Policy Office and President for the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) under the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. Since his appointment as the President of National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea (MABIK) in 2021, he has made significant contributions to the conservation of marine biodiversity and the development of the marine and fisheries industry. In particular, he actively strives to secure Korea's marine biological sovereignty, promote the development of the marine biotechnology industry, and raise public awareness of the ocean's value as the head of the national institution responsible for marine biological resources.

Prof. Waite studied Biochemistry at Harvard University (1971) and Marine Biochemistry at Duke University (1976) and has been on the faculty at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) since 1999 in the Departments of Molecular Cell & Developmental Biology and of Chemistry & Biochemistry as well as in the Graduate Program in Biomolecular Science & Engineering. At UCSB, Waite has been active in initiating and deepening research investigations into structure-properties relationships in load-bearing biomolecular materials from marine organisms. Particularly insightful model organisms have been marine mussels (Mytilus) and sandcastle worms (Phragmatopoma) for adhesion, squid (Dosidicus) and bloodworms (Glycera) for high impact hard organic materials, and sharks (Cynoscyllium) and whelks (Busycon) for encapsulants. Research results have driven technological exploration for the improved design of adhesive interfaces, for mitigating contact damage between mismatched materials and for polymer processing without organic solvents at ambient temperature

Juan Luis GÓMEZ PINCHETTI is Professor at the Faculty of Marine Science and Scientist at the Spanish Bank of Algae (BEA) of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). Master in Applied Algology and PhD in Marine Science, holding scientific training periods at the Dpt. Physiological Botany (Uppsala, Sweden) and INRA (Nantes, France). Author of research articles published in refereed journals and international congress presentations, mainly in the field of Algal Biotechnology. Scientific Director of the Biotechnology Unit at the Spanish Bank of Algae (BEA), he has got a wide experience in laboratory and pilot-scale cultivation of marine macroalgae, microalgae and cyanobacteria. Research objectives include algae physiology and biochemistry, transformation and applications of marine algal biomass produced under intensive culture conditions, and the development of biofiltration systems by using algae, through recently financed research projects from the European Commission such as LIFE-SEACOLORS, H2020-SABANA, Interreg-Mac-REBECA or H2020-NewTechAqua, the Spanish and Canarian Governments as BIFARO, INNOVALGA or ALIZIO, and other research agreements. The Spanish Bank of Algae is an authorized Culture Collection of tropical and subtropical microalgae and cyanobacteria, as well as extremophiles – recognized as an IDA by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), being a member of the European Culture Collection Organization (ECCO) and the World Federation of Culture Collections (WFCC). BEA-ULPGC is also a member of the Spanish nodes for the European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) and the Microbial Resource Research Infrastructure (MIRRI).

Dr. You Kyung Man(born in 1968) acquired a degree in biotechnology at Korea University in 1999. He served as head of the Biotechnology Division at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning(KISTEP) and served as a Marine Biotechnology Deputy Director for about 10 years at Korea Institute of Marine Science Technology Promotion(KIMST). Currently, He has established Science and Technology Strategy lnstitute(STSI) and are performing various projects such as marine bio-cluster formation and marine bio-Infra feasibility study. Ji Won Hong

Professor Ji Won Hong received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Konkuk University in 2001 and 2004, respectively. Prof. Hong then obtained his Ph.D. from School of Life Sciences at University of Dundee in 2009. After completing his doctoral work, he began his career as a researcher at the Department of Biology at Kyungpook National University and the National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea. In 2020, he joined as a faculty member in the Department of Hydrogen and Renewable Energy at Kyungpook National University. His areas of research are bioenergy production and biological waste water treatment using marine microalgae and he has undertaken various research projects in this direction. He currently acts as the Director of Research in the Advanced Bio-Resource Research Center at Kyungpook National University and he is also a member of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Committee of the Korean Society of Phycology.

Jeon Byeong-yeob

Jeon Byung-yeop (b. 1959) graduated Chung-Ang University in Seoul majoring in Business Administration. After working at Hanwha Group he founded a number of venture companies such as Cesscom, MarketPoint and QMTEL, many of which succeeded in IPO. Henceforth, Jeon has been creating new industry fields with innovative products and services. Since its establishment in 2014, Jeon has been the CTO of QBM, a company which focuses on the research of marine minerals acquired through deep sea water extraction. QBM is currently working with National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea to research marine peptides and other marine biomaterials.
