H.E. Einar Jensen has had a long and distinguished career as a civil servant in Denmark. In September 2019, he was appointed ambassador to the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Throughout his career, H.E. Einar H. Professor Manuel Barange is the Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division at the FAO. He holds an Honorary Professorship at the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Exeter (UK). Professor Barange is a global expert on the impacts of Climate Change on marine ecosystems, fisheries and aquaculture, and on the interactions between natural and socio-economic drivers of change. He has over 130 academic publications. In 2010 he was awarded the UNESCO-IOC Roger Revelle Medal for his contribution to ocean science.

The Advent of SDGs And Korea’s Strategic Actions

Seokho Kim is now a professor in the Department of Sociology at Seoul National University (SNU). He has been leading the following projects: establishing a monitoring system to implement the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Korea (2016), preparing the metadata for the UN's SDGs indicators (2020), and preparing the Korea's SDGs Implementation Report 2022 (2022). Also, he undertook the selection and preparation of the 17 target indicators for the Korea's independent sustainable development goals (known as the K-SDGs) in 2020, and he is currently building a national indicator management system for the K-SDGs.

Il-hwan Cho

Fishery Resources Policy Bureau Officer Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries

Director-General Cho is a fisheries expert, a trade negotiator, and an international lawyer. He has taken a number of major fishery policy initiatives including the strengthening of the Total Allowable Catch and Vessel Monitoring System, introduction of a large scale fishery restructuring program, and the development of environment-friendly fishing gears. He has been a member of the New York State Bar Associations since 2008, and served as the Vice-Chair of the OECD Fisheries Committee since 2019.

Dr. Lee Sang-Lae earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University. Born in 1963 in Austria, Veronika Veits studied at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna and joined the European Commission in 1996. In 2017, Veronika Veits was appointed Director for Fisheries Policy, Mediterranean and Black Sea in the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Since 1 September 2019, Veronika Veits has been Director for International Ocean Governance and Sustainable Fisheries in this Directorate-General. This includes International Ocean Governance, Law of the Sea and Arctic Policy, Regional Fisheries Management Organisations, Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreements, and the Fight against IUU Fishing.

Chairman Kim Hyun-kyum founded PanStar Group in 1990 and now running eight companies as a chairman including a KOSDAQ listed PanStar Enterprise, a RoRo passenger ship operator PanStar Line Dot Com, and an overseas affiliated company SanStar Line in Japan, and more. He was a committee member of the Busan Port Authority, a representative of the Korea Shipping Association, a vice chairman of the Korea Trade Research Association, and a chairman of the Audience Committee of KBS(Korea Broadcasting System).

Ha-yong Jang

researcher at BDI

Dr. Ha yong Jang is the researcher at BDI(Busan Development Institute), the comprehensive policy research institute under Busan Metropolitan City, studying maritime policies to realize the vision of Busan, the maritime capital of Korea. As the convergence researcher, he earned his B.A.(2000) and M.A.(2002) in Coast Guard Studies, Ph.D. in Maritime industry at Mechatronics from Korea Maritime and Ocean University. He served as the head professor at the Busan branch of Korea Port Training Institute to conduct research into smart port from 2014 to 2019. He also helped Maritime Policy Division at the Busan Metropolitan City Government formulate and implement the maritime policy in Busan. Dr. Jang took his role as a member of the WOF planning committee, Busan Cruise Industry Development Committee and Technical Advisory Committee of Busan Port Construction Office. In particular, he worked in a variety of areas as a member of the Special Investigation Committee on Sewol Ferry Disaster, the ROK Delegation to the 2nd Arctic Circle Assembly, and Eurasia Expedition from Busan of Busan Metropolitan City.
